Considering ideas for the mage for my weird weird m20 variant.
They're definitely going to get spells known as they gain levels, but I'm not sure if there should be additional powers they have the chance to grab as they level up (similar to the warrior's fighting abilities, the priest's prayers, and the rogue's rogueries.) Their spell slots are kinda a hybrid between the 5e warlock's (limited, but refresh with short rests) and the 13th Age wizard's (spell slots gradually increase in spell level.)
On the other hand, they're gonna get Eldritch Blast as a cantrip along with a pair of first-level spells which I might glom from the wizard spell list. (*Highly* tempted to give them Magic Missile for free simply because it's my favorite arcane spell and it's iconic, but I think that might be a bit much.)
