Fabled Lands - Solo Adventure

So I have a previous post about soloing useing ML20 here and in my research I have discovered a interesting and valid game system I think is worth a try, Flabled Lands. All you need is any one of the books, a pencil, and 2d6. The books in this system work independently and in conjunction, for less t...

Single Player Adventures Suggestions/Design

I have been thinking about playing/wainwright a massive solo adventure for years. Ideally a player could sit down with their rule-set, character sheet, adventure and a beer for a grand time. I have had no problem finding sources, but I thought there might be some favorites everyone has :). Another p...

Re: Chainmail and Breastplate but Split Mail and Banded Mail?

Ahh ha! This could correlate to utilizing ML20 and 3.x interchangeably. What I'm going take away is what was said in the intro "but one where all of the resources of Primary Fantasy SRD (monsters, spells, adventures and equipment) could be used without conversion." So the core concept here is what I...

HP recovered and HP spent on spells

Okay so my impression is that all HP (lets say 10) is a cumlative pool as well as duel status. Here is what I mean: You start off. (10) Cast a spell minus 2 hp. (8/10 hp) Cast another spell to recover lost hp-3 hp. (5/10hp) Heal for 5hp. (10/10) [5/10] So while you are effectively at 10hp, only 5 hp...

Chainmail and Breastplate but Split Mail and Banded Mail?

So Just tossing this out there for thought and discussion; Chainmail is 150gp and Breastplate is 200gp both provide +5 AC and both are medium armor, my question is why would I pay 50gp more for something that I cannot get the value from. There is a similar situation for Splint Mail and Banded Mail. ...

Re: New? Introduce Yourself Here!

Hey there! I'm Gary, I have been running games and occasionally playing since the early 00's. So yeah some of you have played longer than I have been alive. Love reading, love DND 3/3.5e and 5e has its moments (lets not talk about 4e, :/). I would love to eventually run a MUD but hey whos got the ti...

Re: What does "Rules Light" Mean to you?

I would think that the objective to a table top is collaborative story telling. The DM provides the setting and balanced interaction, characters interact with the setting. With this in mind, if the intent of players and DM are collaborative, then mechanics beyond a simple and scaled approach are unn...
