Update (19 Jun 23):

As I mentioned many weeks ago, maintaining the seldom used Wordpress side of this site became too much of a bother, especially as parts of Wordpress are constantly updating and some those updates break things -- like access to this forum. I'm finally had time to remove it. The forum should stop disappearing from view now.

As many of you know, my wife has had MS for about 20 years now. It has gotten to the stage where helping her takes a lot more of my time that it used to. This means visits to this board have become few and far between. I'm looking for a couple of members willing to help moderate this board. Note that if your idea of good moderation is anything similar the way boards like RPG.net are moderated, do not bother volunteering. Good moderation isn't about forcing your opinions, ideological positions, or biases on members via your power to gag and ban, it is about being helpful to all members (even those you don't like/disagree with), cleaning up after spammers, and enforcing the rules with the lightest hand possible and only doing so when the rules are actually broken. If you are interested in any message board moderation position on any board because of the supposed "power" it will give you, you are (IMHO) the wrong person for the job. If you are interested, PM me. It may taken quite a while to reply, unfortunately.

Hello! My name is Alex. I play D&D with friends and enjoy it, but I can never get really into it. Also, I would like to find a game to introduce new players into RPGs or at least bring old players back into gaming. Voila. Microlite20. So much to choose from.

I also like hacking stuff together and I have a game I am working on with a Western theme based upon Microlite2020. Hopefully after a test or two I will post it for further comment and suggestions.

Welcome, Alex. There is always room for another Western themed game. The genre isn't nearly as popular with game designers as (I think) it should be.

Hi, Ripripla here. I'm nothing more than a large idiot (quite literally, 6'3") who likes homebrewing. I found Microlite today and i'm already making a 2020 supplement (i plan on adding a few customization options and some options for GMs as well).

I'm 14, so as one might guess, my first exposition to TTRPGs was with 5e. I really disliked it, because it limited your options while being complex as hell. Yet people praised it for it's simplicity. I never got that. Personally, i either go one end of the stick or the other - it's either rules-lite or Pathfinder for me.

I plan on eventually being a tabletop game designer. I have some great ideas from time to time (i made a small one-page RPG about space goblins, yes, goblins are my favorite fantasy species, how did you guess).

Hiya, Rip!
Welcome to the community. I have to admit that hearing someone call 5e complex is a bit strange to me.
Regardless, Microlite is definite the right fit for those looking for a satisfyingly simple game.
BTW, if you make your head spin, try reading the rules for Rifts. Now that's a complex game! :)

I mean, it's over 200 pages. My mind can't even handle 50 pages.

Fortunately you usually don't need to read all the pages to play such games. A lot of the rules are much easier to learn while playing, too.

I'm Alex. I have been into tabletop roll-playing on and off since I was a kid, but it has always been very rare to get a game going in person. I mostly played Steve Jackson's Car Wars, and once the D&D3.0 era came along, I was finally able to run some small games.

I was part of a Microlite20 campaign several years ago that I loved. (This was probably 2012?)I just recently looked up m20 again and it's awesome to see that it has flourished!

Howdy, y'all. I'm Stephen, and I've been occasionally known to make RPGs a tad larger than Microlite. Been fiddling around with making my own systems since my cousin introduced me to the WEG 2nd ed of the Star Wars RPG back in high school. Can't say I've done much besides duets, but I've always been fascinated with the various mechanics of RPGs in general and I've made a study of many different systems over the years. I'm currently using Microlite20 to introduce my eldest son to tabletop RPGs (on account of its relative simplicity as opposed to something bulky like one of mine) and I'm enjoying the experience. I'm also a huge fan of the concept of Pocketmods and I've got some questions about the Microlite system in general, which are the main reasons I'm signing up for these forums. Hoping to contribute to the Microlite community in whatever ways that I can.

Hi guys, I have recently rediscovered RPGs and - I suspect like others here - a new appreciation for rules light or ultralight systems as I don't have the free time I had in my youth.

I'm just finishing a short cyberpunk campaign with my son (though he's recently discovered girls so I suspect he will be less interested in RPGing for a while) and I'm preparing a sword and sorcery adventure at his request. I think I will start off with Heartseeker by Trollish Delver games and slowly blend in the extra options, especially spells, in Microlite81.Any suggestions for this idea are most welcome.

Hi guys, I recently rediscovered TTRPGs thanks to Stranger Things and quickly developed an affection for lite/ultralite systems. Perhaps like many of you, I have far less time to dedicate to learning rules and systems than I did in my youth. I am about to end a short Cyberpunk campaign with my son and at his request I am preparing a swords and sorcery environment for our next campaign, though he has recently discovered girls so I'm hoping he'll still find time to play!

On Randall's advice, I am using Microlite81 and I think I will adopt Heartseeker by Trollish Delver games for a really easy start and slowly blend in extra rules and spells from M81 as we progress. Any thoughts or suggestions about this idea are welcome.
